With the most breath taking blue color, Blue Apatite is every crystal lovers dream! As apatite comes in many different colors, blue in my opinion is the most eye catching, it also has metaphysical properties to help in any corner of your life.

History

Blue apatite crystal falls into the category of phosphate minerals and was first named in 1786 by a German geologist. In the 1800s however, it was discovered that the original stone had been incorrectly classified, and the record was set straight. The word “apatite” is derived from the Greek word exapatὀ (or apatao), which means “to deceive”. This is thought to have originated from the fact that apatite has often been confused with other gemstones, such as Paraiba tourmaline.

Composition and Formation

Apatite is a mineral that is composed of calcium phosphate. Apatite is a relatively common mineral that can occur in a variety of colors, including yellow, green, blue, and purple. It is an important mineral in the formation of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks, and it can also be found in biological tissues such as bones and teeth. Due to its chemical and physical properties, apatite has various industrial applications, including in the production of fertilizers, phosphoric acid, and dental materials.

Apatite can form in numerous ways including, igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic processes. Heres some examples!

Igneous : Apatite can crystallize from magmas or melts that are rich in calcium and phosphorus.

Sedimentary: Apatite can be precipitated from aqueous solutions in sedimentary environments. This occurs when phosphate ions in solution react with calcium ions to form apatite crystals.

Metamorphic:  Apatite can be formed through metamorphism, which occurs when rocks are subjected to high temperatures and pressures. During metamorphism, apatite can be recrystallized or transformed into different mineral phases, depending on the conditions of metamorphism.

Types of Apatite

There are three different primary types of apatite: fluorapatite, chlorapatite, and hydroxyapatite. Depending on the type you have, you may experience different healing properties. Some specific colors are also very popular.

Which type of apatite you use is up to you. However, it is important to note that not all apatites are created equal. Some crystals may have stronger properties than others. If you are unsure which apatite to use, try using a few different types and see which ones work best for you.

Here is a little more about each primary type:

  1. Fluorapatite - Fluorapatite is the most common type of apatite. Fluorapatite is known for boosting the immune system, detoxifying the body, and increasing energy levels. It is also said to be helpful for those who are struggling with addiction.

  2. Chlorapatite - Chlorapatite is a less common type of apatite. Chlorapatite is known for boosting the immune system, aiding in detoxification, and increasing energy levels. It is also said to be helpful for those who are struggling with addiction.

  3. Hydroxyapatite - Hydroxyapatite is the least common type of apatite. Hydroxyapatite is known for its ability to help bones and teeth regenerate, increase energy levels, and boost the immune system. It is also said to be helpful for those who are struggling with addiction.

  4. Blue Apatite - The blue apatite stone is known for its ability to open the throat chakra and increase communication. These blue crystals are also said to be helpful for those who are struggling with addiction.

  5. Green Apatite - The green apatite stone is known for its ability to open the heart chakra and increase love and compassion. It is also said to be helpful for those who are struggling with addiction.

  6. Gold Apatite - The yellow apatite stone is known for its ability to open the solar plexus chakra and increase personal power and confidence. It is also said to be helpful for those who are struggling with addiction.

Cleansing and Charging

For continued care of your Blue Apatite, you can cleanse and charge it regularly. Some ways to do so include: leaving it in the moonlight or sunlight for a few hours, placing it in the Earth overnight, smudging it with a sacred herb of your choice, placing it on a selenite plate, or playing a crystal singing bowl in its presence. Whether you are cleansing or charging your stone, the most important thing is the intention you set as you perform the action.

Chakras

Apatite is connected to the heart, throat, and third eye chakras. Each one of these captures different properties and effects of an apatite stone. Apatite activates the heart chakra stone by embracing emotional healing. It activates the throat chakra by alleviating fear of public speaking and helping you to express your authentic self. Lastly, Apatite opens up your third eye by activating psychic abilities and deepening meditation and intuition! The same could be said for the crown chakra depending on where your more drawn to use it. This beautiful stone can do so many amazing things and can help in every way, if your drawn to Blue Apatite don’t second guess it! Go pick up a stone and take it for a spin!
