Kyanite in my opinion is a very underrated crystal, it’s got a variety of colors and properties. Theres blue, black, green, and orange! The most common kind of kyanite is Blue Kyanite. Kyanite is formed when sedimentary rocks undergo a metamorphosis mm resulting in high pressure changes to the clay minerals they're in. Most of the time kyanite is found in schists, taking the form of bladed crystals and in rare cases radiating masses of crystals.
History
Kyanite has been discovered all over the world, but was named in 1789 by a German mineralogist, Abraham Gottlob Werner taken from the Greek word for blue.This name was used at the times as Kyanite was known primarily as a blue mineral, with other colors of the mineral being found later. It has been found in Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Burma, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and the United States.
Blue Kyanite
